Cam brings a background in ecology and a genuine desire to give back to his new community. He and his partner moved from the UK in October, and he wasted no time settling in—he was already seeking volunteer opportunities when, by great timing, we put out a call for help with our seed libraries. It turned out to be the perfect match.

Since then, Cam has become an integral part of our team. He now manages and maintains seed libraries at five locations, keeping a consistent schedule that fits flexibly around his other commitments. Thanks to his dedication, the service runs more smoothly than ever—and for the first time, we’re collecting reliable data on how it's being used.

Between September and December, 690 seed packets were distributed. We’ve also seen a noticeable increase in the number of people visiting our office to access the seed bank. It’s a clear sign that the service is thriving, and Cam’s efforts have been a big part of that growth.

With his ecological background and previous work supporting river communities in the UK, Cam is a natural fit for this role. What stands out even more, though, is his enthusiasm for learning. He’s been diving into topics like food sovereignty and sustainability, always curious, always engaged.

Whether he’s restocking seed libraries, chatting with community members, or just making sure things are running smoothly, Cam brings a level of care and commitment that lifts everyone around him.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have Cam on board. He’s not just helping seeds grow—he’s helping our community grow stronger, greener, and more connected.

Cam is currently seeking employment in the ecology field.
