What is Circular Economy?

Circular Economy ensures resources are consumed in a way that protects and restores natural ecosystems, specifically through the:

· Avoidance of resources that harm the environment: during extraction, production, use and/or disposal

· Adoption of economical practices, including only using what we need, and keeping resources in use for as long as possible

ENM’s Circular Economy Network

We are an expanding network of groups, individuals and businesses, working together to promote, foster and instil Circular Economy practices and activities within our communities.

Our Goal

Our goal is to encourage communities to consume resources in a way that protects the life-supporting capacity of air, water, soil & ecosystems and ensures our planet continues to provide us with the resources we need to survive and thrive.

With the support of our growing network, here are some ways for individuals, families, organisations and businesses to consume more carefully:

  • Repair
  • Borrow
  • Reuse
  • Source eco-friendly items & materials
  • Source second-hand
  • Recycle - make your own eco-friendly items
  • Only get what you need – you don’t need packaging!
  • Help others to consume resources more carefully
    • Lend your things to others
    • Donate to others for reuse, or if this isn’t an option - for recycling
    • Volunteer for one of our member groups
    • Support our member groups by promoting and using their services/products
    • Start your own initiative
    • Join our Circular Economy network
    • Donate to ENM

The impact of current resource consumption

The manner in which we currently consume resources is having a devastating effect on our planet: flora, fauna, land, waterways, oceans and air.

To see first-hand the impact of plastic and other litter on our environment, we encourage you to Host a Waterway Clean-up Event.

This is a great motivator for all involved to consume more carefully in the future.
