Palmerston North City Council have consulted on the draft policy for the use of public space.
Public space is any outdoor area under Council control, including the Square, Railway Land, reserves, parks, riverbanks, and verges. The objective of the policy is to encourage and enable a diverse range of activities and events to occur in public spaces.
It guides how PNCC manages applications for the formal use of public space. This includes activities like recreation businesses, community events, and regular sport.
The full consultation document is available here. Submissions closed 29 July.
ENM did not submit on behalf of the network but encouraged member groups and individuals to consider making their own submissions to this consultation.
The Railway Land Action Group (ENM member group that compaigns on retaining public green spaces) has agreed to supply a draft of their group's submission in case this is useful to others (see link on right).
