Palmerston North City Council recently consulted on its draft Manawatu River Framework.

The River Framework “provides a strategic vision for any development located in close proximity to the Manawatu River over the next 30 years and recognises the importance of the river to the City.”

The stated aims of the Framework are:

• To provide a vision and allow flexibility to guide large complex projects to be implemented over time;

• To clearly communicate the design vision for the space adjoining the river;

• Coordinate projects in and around the Manawatū River.
