Fundraising events can feel like a whole lot of work for not necessarily much money, but I still believe they are a valuable part of the fundraising mix. As much as anything, fundraising events are a great way to raise your profile, because when the spotlight is on your event, you have a chance to talk about your cause.
Of course, if you want to run a high-profile event, you will need lots of volunteers and that’s not always easy. Collaborating with another group can help solve the volunteer problem, while at the same time opening the event up to a bigger audience. Instead of fighting for your piece of the fundraising pie, it’s about working together to make the whole pie bigger.
When choosing a collaborating partner, remember that it doesn’t have to be an organisation that has anything to do with you. Working across non-profit sectors often creates more interesting and profitable events.
