The Whio Protectors is a group of volunteers dedicated to making the Ruahines a safe space for the endangered Whio (Blue Duck). Guided walk joining MSWCC, Oroua and Pohangina Blue Duck Protection Projects, involved in re-baiting and clearing 2500 DOC predator traps. 8am-3pm Sunday 13th September 2026. Carpooling organised leaving Palmy at 8am. Sign-ups close the Friday before the trip. Bring suitable footwear, facemask, raincoat, warm clothing, sunscreen, hat, lunch, water bottle.
