Sustainable Living Education Trust
Community education towards sustainability at home – the future living skills we need to reduce carbon footprints, minimise waste, conserve fresh water and co-exist with natural systems of the planet. Learn Future Living Skills for your household, workplace and/or community group - adapt using lifestyles that are kinder to the planet, promote health and use resources more efficiently.
The Trust works with City Councils to recruit and train facilitators who can lead study groups and courses. These materials are available to anyone through the website, but attending a group or course inspires, motivates, and allows people to share their tips and experiences. Courses are led by selected local experts, who often have years of experience and specialist skills in sustainable living.
Palmerston North’s first series of workshops started in March 2021, and places filled quickly. Future workshops will be advertised through the Trust's website, in the ENM online calendar and monthly newsletter. Each workshop covers one of the following topics. The learning materials can be downloaded from the website for free.
- Gardening
- Healthy food choices
- Waste Minimisation
- Community Resilience
- Travel Options
- Building and renovation (including energy efficiency and insulation, eco-building and renovation)
- Energy
- Water Saving
