Extinction Rebellion (XR) is a worldwide movement alerting people to the climate crisis. Many individuals have been trying to live lightly on the earth but in spite of that climate change is increasing rapidly. XR wants local and central government to

• tell people how acute the situation is
• take urgent action now to be net zero carbon by 2025
• use citizens' assemblies to assist their decision making-fundamental changes in economic and social systems to maximise well being and minimise harm in the face of a rapid climate change and mass extinction
• make the Manawatu (and Aotearoa New Zealand) net zero carbon free by 2025
